Department of English – 2 positions
Assistant Professor
Tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Composition in the Department of English beginning August 2019. Ph.D in Composition/Rhetoric, Writing Studies, or a related field. ABD applicants will be considered, but appointment will be at the Instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2020. Specialize in composition pedagogy, teaching writing to secondary education teachers, digital rhetoric, ESOL, translanguaging, or WAC/WID. Record of teaching excellence in first-year writing and other writing courses. Evidence of an active scholarly agenda. Demonstrated success in working with diverse populations of students. An instructional workload of six (6) course units per academic year for the first year and seven (7) course units in subsequent years. Teach first-year writing each semester and will teach the first-year Towson Seminar course, upper-level advanced writing courses, and composition courses in the M.S. in Professional Writing program as needed. Assistant Professor
Tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a specialization in Grant Writing/Nonprofit Writing, Community Writing, and Professional Writing in the Department of English beginning August 2019. Ph.D. in Composition/Rhetoric or a related field. ABD applicants will be considered, but appointment will be at the Instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2020. Secondary fields may include Social Justice, Diversity and Inclusion, Cultural Rhetoric, and Multiethnic Studies. Evidence of successful teaching. Active research agenda. Experience in grant writing and forms of community writing. An instructional workload of six (6) course units per academic year for the first year and seven (7) course units in subsequent years. Teach undergraduate courses from first-year writing to UL courses on advanced writing, grant and advocacy writing, workplace writing, editing and digital publishing, and technical and scientific writing. In the M.S. in Professional Writing program, the successful candidate will teach courses on rhetoric, communication for the nonprofit sector, and organizational communications.
