The Department of English & Creative Writing at Susquehanna University invites applications for a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing, specialty in Fiction, beginning in August 2019.  A literary fiction writer will be given preference; additional interest in areas such as young adult, speculative writing, and/or screenwriting is also desirable. Teaching responsibilities include several levels of creative writing workshops as well as first-year composition and introductory literature or genre surveys. The successful candidate will have published a book or have publications in nationally reputable literary journals, excel as a teacher, and also show exemplary interest in building and maintaining Susquehanna University’s nationally-distinguished undergraduate creative writing major. The standard teaching load is 3/3.

Candidates must possess either an MFA with a substantive publishing record or a Ph.D. in creative writing.  All candidates must present evidence of creative, literary, and teaching potential.  Our highly-engaged creative writing program is regularly ranked as one of the top tier undergraduate majors in North America, hosts the Seavey Reading Series, and offers a supportive collegial environment.  www.susqu.edu/writers
