The School of Social Work, University of Missouri-Columbia (MU), announces one open-rank, 9-month, tenure/tenure-track faculty position for the 2018-2019 academic year. Candidates should be able to maintain an active research agenda leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals, obtain federal grants or other external funds to support a research agenda, develop multidisciplinary research connections on and off the MU campus, and teach across the curriculum.

The mission of the MU School of Social Work is to promote leadership for social and economic justice by preparing students for professional excellence and leadership in practice, research, and policy. MU School of Social Work has 27 faculty and five full-time staff. The School offers degrees at the BSW, MSW, and PhD levels, has a MSW/MPH dual degree program, and two Graduate Certificate Programs (Gerontology and Military Social Work). As a school, we are committed to a diverse educational environment and promote social work practice that enhances resources, enables access to services, promotes advocacy, and engenders change. The minimum requirements for this position are a doctoral degree in social work, social welfare, or a closely related field. An MSW degree from an accredited social work program is required; two years post-MSW or post-BSW experience is preferred. Evidence of success in scholarly productivity, external funding of research, and teaching competence is desirable at the assistant level and required at the associate/full professor levels. The School is seeking a candidate with a research agenda that contributes to social and economic justice through research focused on poverty studies, racial disparities, substance use and abuse, health disparities, child welfare, or mental health.
