Position Summary:

The successful candidate will participate in the clinical activities of the hospital in the dermatology service including patient care, instruction and supervision of veterinary students, interns, and residents.

Principal Duties:

RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to provide clinical service coverage in dermatology, to teach veterinary students during their 4th year clinical rotation in dermatology, and to assist in resident training and limited didactic teaching as required. Clinical duties will be assigned at 32-36 weeks per year. The daily and weekly dermatology schedule may also be flexible and subject to negotiation. Candidates will be encouraged to pursue research interests during time periods when they are not scheduled to work in the clinics. This position is an ideal entry-level position for candidates wishing to acquire experience in an academic clinical setting, with exposure to and mentorship in clinical research and the opportunity to develop teaching skills.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

1. TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES (50%):
A. Clinical teaching of 4th year veterinary students up to 32-36 weeks per full-time year
B. Limited didactic lectures and laboratories.
C. Involvement in continuing education programs for veterinary practitioners in the State of Wisconsin.

2. SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES (50%)
A. Up to 38 weeks (per full-time year) of clinical service in Dermatology

3. RESEARCH RESPONSIBILITIES - Collaborative opportunities available to interested candidates

Degree and Area of Specialization:

DVM (or equivalent) required and completion of a formal residency in dermatology.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Preference will be given to individuals who are ACVD board certified or who have completed dermatology residency training with credentials accepted by ACVD. Rank and salary will be commensurate with training and experience. The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with all sections of the hospital and department.

License or Certificate:

Eligible to practice veterinary medicine in Wisconsin.
