The Management Information Systems Department at the John Chambers College of Business and Economics, West Virginia University is seeking qualified applicants for an Assistant or Associate Professor tenure-track or tenured Management Information Systems position beginning August 13, 2021. This position is a tenure track, 9-month faculty appointment in support of a college-level, online graduate program in Business Cybersecurity and undergraduate face-to-face and online programs in MIS and Cybersecurity.

Candidates must have a demonstrated record of excellence in research with the potential to establish an independent research program and a commitment to excellence in university teaching. Candidates must have knowledge, skill and interest in teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in the topics of cybersecurity and networking or similar topics.

B & E offers a Bachelor of Science in Economics (BSE), and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with ten majors: Accounting, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, General Business, Global Supply Chain Management, Hospitality & Tourism, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing and Organizational Leadership. At the Master's level, B&E offers a Master of Science in Cybersecurity, Master of Business Administration (MBA), an Online Hybrid MBA, a Master of Science in Industrial Relations, a Master of Science in Business Data Analytics, a Master of Professional Accountancy, a Master of Science in Finance, a Master of Arts in Economics, and a Certificate in Forensic Accounting and Fraud Administration. At the doctoral level, B&E offers a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics and a Doctor of Philosophy in Business Management with majors in Accounting, Finance, Management and Marketing.

Qualifications :

  • Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. before the start date of the position in one of the following fields: management information systems, information sciences, computer science, business administration or a related field. Candidates at the Associate level must have a track record of high level research published in well-regarded journals, and a teaching record demonstrating excellence in the classroom.
  • Candidates are expected to teach graduate and undergraduate classes in topics related to the areas of Cyber Security, Network Security, Security Management, Computer Forensics, and Application Security.
  • Demonstrated ability to do research in cybersecurity and/or related fields.
  • A willingness to actively participate in college and university committees, as well as to perform outreach activities.
  • Applicants must be fluent in writing and speaking English.
