The Department of History, Philosophy, and Political Science at Columbia College, Missouri invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in History. We are interested in scholars specializing in U.S. women's history (any period), with experience in either digital history or public history.
In addition to teaching upper-level courses on U.S. women's history, the ideal candidate will be able to teach general education surveys and a broad array of electives for the History program. Preference will be given to candidates with additional teaching interest in areas such as African American, Latin American, and/or southern history. The ability to teach world history surveys would be an asset. Some teaching of the history program introductory and capstone seminars would be expected at times. The teaching load is 4/4.
Candidates must expect to participate fully in the general work of the department, to advise undergraduate majors in the department, to participate in program-building and other service work for the college, and to remain engaged in scholarly and professional development.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in history from an accredited institution, or will be in the latter stages of a history PhD program from such an institution. Please include a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, graduate transcripts, materials which demonstrate a successful teaching history, a statement of teaching philosophy, and three letters of recommendation from appropriate professional colleagues.
