Help us reimagine the traditional University.

We’re a small team of educational innovators, with deep roots in Vietnam, strong political and financial backing, and connections to educational institutions around the world. We believe in the power of collaboration, transdisciplinary thinking, and risk- taking; and we understand that effective education requires putting students at the center.

We are embarking on the project of a lifetime: building a new, non-profit university in Ho Chi Minh City. With substantial financial support from the US State Department, USAID, and a variety of private donors, we are designing and building Fulbright University Vietnam’s flagship undergraduate program: a 21st century liberal education that spans engineering and the liberal arts and sciences. We’re starting from scratch, with the goal of creating an institution that can transform the lives of young people, address the pressing needs of Vietnamese society, and ultimately point the way toward a new approach to high quality education in developing countries. You can learn more about our project at

This is a once-in- a-lifetime chance to be part of imagining a new approach to education — including both engineering, and the traditional liberal arts and sciences — from the ground up. If we throw out assumptions about curriculum, about disciplinary silos, about faculty and student roles, and about the relationship between the institution and the community, what might we build together? If we deeply care about developing students as whole people, kindling their curiosity, and preparing them to lead in an uncertain world, what kind of experience might we create?

Faculty Position: English Bridge Program and Learning Support Director
So that Fulbright University Vietnam can access a diversity of Vietnamese students, some from less privileged and prepared backgrounds, we intend to create and implement an English and Academic Skills Bridge Program alongside a Learning Skills Program for all students. We need a continuing faculty member to spearhead this initiative.

The Bridge Program will run for two months each summer for students with sub par English skills in order to provide them with a boost in their English and academic skills coming into FUV. The Learning Skills Program will run throughout the year, admitting all FUV students into the workshops and classes, and provide additional support for the intensive work done in the Bridge program. We envision that this will encompass aspects of and innovate from the traditional idea of a learning support center for the university community. We hope that this faculty member will provide support to other faculty on questions of teaching multilingual learners, and to develop innovative teaching techniques to facilitate the development of English and the process and skills within individual classes.

If you share our values, have creative energy and great ideas, and have or expect an advanced degree or equivalent experience in arts, humanities, social sciences, physical sciences, or engineering, we would love to receive an application from you. Here’s how to apply:

  1. Please provide a FUV-specific letter of interest. Tell us about why you are excited to join FUV, how your background and interests might be valuable to the project, and how the project relates to your own goals.
  2. Please provide a current CV, and/or portfolio. We’d like to understand your previous experience.
  3. (optional) If your can do so at this time, we would like to get references. We particularly appreciate referees who can address not only your intellectual potential but also your potential for working with students and your capacity to work on a team.  We do understand that in some cases this may not be possible until later in the process.

Please submit your materials or any questions to Please specify “Bridge Program Director” in your application description.
