English: The Department of English seeks a
tenure-eligible assistant professor whose scholarship and teaching
interests center in Rhetoric and Writing (including professional
communication), broadly conceived. The Department does not have
responsibility for general education writing courses. We seek
candidates with teaching and scholarly expertise in fields that
would add to our undergraduate programs and MA in English, and
complement the scope of our interdisciplinary PhD program in Media,
Art, and Text. We welcome specializations in any field or
theoretical focus, including but not limited to the following:
history of rhetoric, feminist rhetoric, cultural rhetorics,
non-canonical or vernacular rhetorics, new media writing,
scientific and technical writing, or pedagogy of writing.

Candidates must have a PhD in Writing, Rhetoric, English, or a
related field in hand by August 15, 2018. Candidates must have
demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse and
inclusive faculty, staff and student environment, or a commitment
to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
