Major Responsibilities:
This position reports to the Dean of Learning Resources and Academic Support and is under the general direction of the Library Department Chair. The Collection Development/OER Librarian will assist in the planning, organization, management, and implementation of various library services and programs as assigned. This is a 12-month position at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will have primary responsibilities for coordination and development of both online and print book collections as well as advocating and engaging the San Diego Mesa College community in the development of Open Education Resources (OER). Primary Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to: coordinating the library paper and e-book collection development, reviewing all donations to the library, ensuring materials are ordered in a timely manner, monitoring and managing collection budgets and tracking collection usage, address collection maintenance concerns and overseeing all selection and deselection of materials in the collection, coordinating the ongoing relationships with faculty and librarians regarding their needs for the library and OER collections, educating campus stakeholders on OER, open licensing and open textbooks, identifying OER course content and overall support for adopted OER materials, leading institutional professional development regarding the locating and adapting of OER materials, OER Project management and event participation with diverse work groups including, faculty, students, staff and administrators, the ability to communicate, consult and collaborate with stakeholders across our campus and district with self-initiative and creativity, teach sessions regarding both information literacy and OER, be fluent in the incorporation of open pedagogy into the educational environment.

Qualifications:
(a) Master’s degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in the discipline of the faculty member’s assignment. (b) Master’s degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in a discipline reasonably related to the faculty member’s assignment and possession of a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in the discipline of the faculty member’s assignment. NOTE: All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications shall be from accredited institutions, unless otherwise specified.

Desired Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate: • Experience in collection development and acquisitions. • Experience in reviewing , selecting, and weeding from a library collection. • Experience managing statistical data and generating reports from library platforms such as an integrated library system and third party vendor. • Experience or strong working knowledge of rights management, copyright and licensing trends. • Knowledge in the areas of identifying, curating, licensing and best practices with adoption of OER for teaching and learning. • Knowledge of current trends and research regarding library practices including emerging technologies. • Experience conducting reference interviews with students. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Ability to work with diverse populations including: students, faculty, staff, administrators and community members. • Experience creating digital learning objects. • Ability to prepare and perform library instruction sessions. • Ability to make effective and appropriate decisions in a timely and efficient manner. • Proven track record of self motivation and proactive initiative with new programs. • Flexibility and receptiveness to new ideas, methods, duties and organizational change

Licenses:


Pay Information:
Class 1, Step A - Class 6, Step C ($5,697.94 - $7,677.65) per month based on the current AFT - COLLEGE Faculty Tenured-Tenured Track Monthly Salary Schedule.

Initial salary placement for this Assistant Professor is commensurate with required education and related teaching experience as outlined in section A2.1 of the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and it is non-negotiable. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid medical, dental, vision plans, sick leave, and opportunities for professional development. This position is FLSA Exempt and may not accrue overtime. Benefits will be provided under the terms of the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 - Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. Annual Salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code §87815, any required adjustment will be made with-in the first pay period. Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, may be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011). Typically, Assistant Professors earn tenure after 4 years and promote to Associate Professor.
