Assistant Professor responsibilities include teaching courses in the Sociology curriculum (which may include online, evening, and/or weekend classes); advising students; maintaining active service and research agendas; seeking/securing external funding to support research endeavors; serving in advisory positions for student organizations, and participating in committee work in the governance of the college and the Sociology program. The ideal candidate must possess a doctorate in Sociology; however, ABD candidates will be considered. The successful applicant should have some academic teaching experience and a record of research activity.
Essential Duties Summary
Teaches classes in the Department of Sociology. Seeks/Secures external funding to support research endeavors. Provides academic advising for students in the department. Provides academic support to students in the form of assessment, evaluation, and mentoring. Serves on college/school/ and university committees as required. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Applicants must also have a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and graduate education in an academic environment.
Work Experience
The applicant must have at least two (2) years of college or university teaching experience and must be committed to upholding excellence in teaching, research, and service.
Working/Environmental Conditions
Working conditions require following basic safety precautions. Physical demands include moderate physical activity including prolonged standing and/or walking, handling moderate weight objects and/or using or carrying equipment. Work may require routine travel.
