Senior Project Manager



Information Technology is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to assist in the development and maintenance of the project management discipline at Embry-Riddle. They will oversee the design, planning, and implementation of innovative, enterprise technology projects in support of the University's enterprise strategic planning initiatives including cloud-software solutions. Workday or similar Human Resources, Financial cloud-based system project experience highly desired. This role will be responsible for managing relationships, conflict resolution, resource negotiation, and utilizing best practice software project management methodologies, such as Waterfall and Agile. In addition, they will help increase adoption of the project management approach and help to construct governance around the approach.

Responsibilities include the following:

Define project scope, goals, and deliverables for technology projects. Develop and manage full scale project plans utilizing the appropriate methodology for enterprise-wide projects. Assemble and coordinate project staff, including IT and non-IT personnel. Provide direction and support to the project team. Manage project budget, identify/manage project risk, ensure quality assurance on project deliverables, and monitor/report on progress of the project to all stakeholders. Project evaluations and assessment of results. Able to effectively lead projects at any stage, including those that have started under different leadership.

Assist in development/refinement of the IT Project Management Office (PMO) processes, tools, and templates. Mentor non-PMO IT resources who are responsible for managing projects. Lead adoption of Project Management best practices to all University employees.

Communicate with sponsor, stakeholders, and senior university leadership to ensure the project goals and objectives are met and deliver the desired business value.

Attend project-related meetings. Participate in committees and task forces, as assigned. Prepare and deliver project presentations to various groups throughout the university.

Qualifications :

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience leading enterprise-level projects with proven success (scoped, managed, documented and successfully launched on time and within budget).
  • Project Management Certificate (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or other Project Management professional certfication is required.
  • Analytical skills with an in depth knowledge of information systems and technical expertise with Microsoft operating systems, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated planning skills and a proven ability to lead teams in a multi-project environment.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, problem solving, risk analysis, project methodology, and team building skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate with various levels of users to understand to problem. Must maintain a positive, professional image.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills. Experience with project managements tools and techniques.
  • In-depth knowledge of the application of computing technology in support of administrative and/or academic systems.
  • Knowledge of network technologies as they relate to the operational capabilities of shared systems architecture.
  • Ability to learn new things and keep up with the pace of change in technology.
  • Ability to collect the appropriate information from the user to expedite the resolutions to problems. Demonstrate good judgment in investigating and escalating problems.
  • Demonstrate ability to tactfully handle difficult situations and ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Consistently show ability to recognize and deal with priorities. Recognize and perform duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned-assisting others as needed.
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with University and other Campus Information Technology staff members.
  • Seek guidance and direction as necessary for performance of duties.
