Job Description:

The Business and Economics Department at MCLA seeks applications for part-time faculty prepared to teach courses in support of your program's mission. The program is designed to develop liberally educated professionals with the knowledge, perspectives, problem-solving abilities, and ethical values necessary for successful careers and responsible citizenship. Additionally, we are seeking part-time faculty to teach courses in our Entrepreneurship Studies Minor. This program is designed to introduce students to the concept of entrepreneurship as a means of economic and community development, as well an engine for social good.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Deliver instruction appropriate to the topic, course description, intended learning outcomes, level, and student audience.
• Promote and facilitate student success by creating an environment conducive to learning and student involvement.
• Manage the learning environment through effective record-keeping, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing school/campus academic, code of conduct, and attendance policies.

For Fall 2019 we are looking for an adjunct instructor to teach the following courses:

BADM 110 Information Technology for Business

Explores the application of technology to business communications and decision-making. Students will utilize word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, statistical analysis software, Internet tools, graphics and presentation software to find, retrieve, organize and present business information. Emphasizes the importance of technology (including ethics and etiquette) in facilitating efficient business communications.

BADM 224 Financial Accounting

Introduces basic principles and methods used to develop financial statements and throughout the accounting cycle. Introduces ethical issues in accounting and requires students to conduct financial analysis and translate raw data into useful information for decision making. Spreadsheet and word processing software are used in the analysis of financial information.

BADM 225 Managerial Accounting

Introduces basic cost principles and methods used to determine, plan and control costs. The course focuses on developing and using relevant managerial accounting information to make business decisions. Spreadsheet and word-processing software are used in the analysis of managerial accounting information.

BADM 367 Small Business Entrepreneurship

Introduces students to various types of small businesses through discussion, debate, and demonstrations. Provides them with knowledge and skills necessary to prepare a viable business plan. Students will be expected to develop and complete a business plan.

ENTR 210 Principles of Entrepreneurship

Develops entrepreneurial skills through the integration and application of Design Thinking, Systems Thinking, and Lean Canvas. Working in small groups, students gain an understanding of social entrepreneurship through the application of these tools to identify, refine, and present viable solutions to contemporary challenges facing communities.

ENTR 510 Entrepreneurial Studies Seminar

Provides a structured environment in which students identify and pursue social entrepreneurship-entrepreneurship opportunities from the framework of their choice (Design Thinking, Lean Canvas, and Conventional Project Management). Each class will focus on the student's development of a specific aspect of their business plan.


Requirements:

• Master's degree in a related field. Doctorate preferred.
• Evidence of expertise, scholarly activity, or creative work appropriate to the discipline
• Previous teaching experience at the college level is strongly preferred.

Requirements specific to Accounting Courses:

• Evidence of expertise, scholarly activity, or creative work appropriate to accounting.
• CPA preferred.
