Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The Administrative Associate & Handshake Specialist serves as the receptionist for the
Career Center, manages administrative tasks independently, and provides support for
our online career management and student appointment system, Handshake.

Key Responsibilities Include:
• Responsible for opening and closing the office each day
• Assists students, alumni, employers, faculty/staff, parents, and the general public with inquiries and manages the Career Center email
• Schedules appointments for UNCW students and alumni
• Processes deposits, purchase orders, catering, printing orders, room/table
reservations, surplus property requests, work orders, etc.
• Provides Handshake support to students, alumni, UNCW departments, and employers
(helping with navigation, troubleshooting, account set up, event registration, and posting positions)
• Approves/declines pending employers, alumni account requests, and job postings in
Handshake
• Provides meeting minutes for weekly staff meetings
• Creates a Career Center events calendar that is relevant to students

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
