The Digital Scholarship Program Manager provides leadership, direction, planning and oversight for the wide-range of ongoing initiatives, including outreach, consultation and instruction and management in the development of digital scholarship programs. Working with a talented cross-functional team of staff and students from throughout L&IT, this individual leads campus efforts in faculty research in digital scholarship both within and outside the classroom. Utilizing a matrix model of management, the Program Manager helps to define and oversee a catalog of projects, develops project lifecycles, identifies team members to work on various aspects of a project and helps to guide proposals from inception to conclusion. In addition, the Program Manager is responsible for assuring that continual research and visioning of possible future programs and technology initiatives are a regular part of L&IT's planning process. Working closely with the Executive Director, Research Services & Digital Scholarship, the Program Manager assures digital scholarship programs are effectively integrated with the broader range of technology, library and instruction programs at Bucknell. More specifically, the Program Manager works closely with L&IT staff to assure an effective integration of digital scholarship, library research services and instructional technology into a cohesive and seamless program that serves Bucknell University's academic goals. The Program Manager also works closely with relevant L&IT staff to ensure software, and licensing support are available for digital scholarship initiatives and on project and initiative management projects. This position reports directly to the Executive Director, Research Services & Digital Scholarship.

Job Duties:

• Leads in the development, maintenance, and day-to-day oversight of projects in support of digital scholarship services; helps define, assess, execute and complete digital scholarship projects of all sizes;
• Serving as team lead, coordinates activities among team of digital scholars, librarians, data specialists, developers, instructional technologists, students and other experts;
• Support the prioritization of projects based on impact, strategic objectives, and resources;
• Work directly with the academic leadership, faculty and students and assure that staff are fully engaged with faculty and students providing relevant digital scholarship instruction, outreach and support in a proactive and thoughtful manner;
• Work directly with colleagues to assure a seamless and cohesive program for faculty support of University academic goals;
• Represent L&IT in professional capacities, national and regional;
• Keeps up to date on trends related to digital scholarship, research data, web publishing, educational technology, digital humanities, scholarly communication, digital collections, workflow design, open access policy, repositories and metadata, assessment and digital preservation;
• Develop and maintain an understanding of the aims and needs of the University's teaching, learning and research programs through active consultation with faculty, administrators and L&IT peers;
• As appropriate, both lead and participate in key projects and strategic initiatives related to technology identification, selection, implementation, classroom design, technology instruction, outreach and faculty/student support;
• Work cooperatively with others and accept direction from supervisors;
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's degree in a related field plus two years of demonstrated work experience with technologies related to teaching and learning in higher education;
• Successful record of working directly in the areas of digital scholarship in an education context, with experience in teaching and/or consultation;
• Broad knowledge of digital scholarship methods;
• Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously;
• Ability to articulate complex concepts across diverse audiences;
• Ability to write clear, accurate process documentation and business communications;
• Ability to analyze data and make local decisions based on national and local trends and to design processes that enhance services while maximizing university resources;
• Demonstrated effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with a high priority placed on the ability to effectively undertake instruction and other public speaking engagements;
• Demonstrated ability to set priorities and facilitate technology-related planning processes;
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data and make local decisions based on national and local trends;
• Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to successfully explain complex technologies to a non-technical audience, creatively solve problems, and develop innovative solutions;
• Demonstrated strength in relationship building and consensus building, be service-oriented, possess team leadership, and have demonstrated project management skills;
• A commitment to contributing to a diverse workforce and campus community aligned with Bucknell University's core values.

Other Requirements:
Exempt employees are required to work as much time as is necessary to fulfill the requirements of the position without additional compensation, even if the work is performed beyond “normal” work hours.
