The Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Florida invites applications for a full-time, postdoctoral position in a physiology laboratory. This NIH-funded Postdoctoral Associate should be a highly motivated individual with a strong background in performing Western Blot assays, real-time RT-PCR and siRNA techniques, who will be involved in a NIH-funded project exploring the integrative, functional roles of membrane-bound intestinal transport proteins in the handling of oxalate following colonization with the probiotic gut bacterium Oxalobacter formigenes. In addition, this individual must be willing to be part of an integrative team covering approaches including whole animal physiology, molecular biology, microbiology and metabolomics. The position requires experience working with gut microbes.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in molecular biology/physiology or a related discipline. The position requires competence and expertise in a variety of molecular biology approaches, experience with cell culture and/or microbiology is also highly desirable, but not essential.

A strong background in performing Western Blot assays, real-time RT-PCR and siRNA techniques.

In addition, this individual must be willing to be part of an integrative team covering approaches including whole animal physiology, molecular biology, microbiology and metabolomics.

A proven record of verbal and written communication is necessary.

The candidate should have a strong background in implementing and conducting experiments using all of the molecular biology tools necessary as well as statistical analyses of experimental data.
