Mission or Goal of Unit

To provide superior, compassionate and innovative clinical care to our patients using state of the art knowledge and resources and to conduct and disseminate clinical research and scholarship, with a focus on the care of patients and education of future clinicians.

Chief purpose of this position in support of above mission or goal

We are seeking to fill this clinician faculty position to function within the division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Virginia Commonwealth University. This position will provide care for patients with acute and chronic liver disease.

Position Responsibilities

1. Clinical
Provide clinical services in hepatology clinics at VCUHS, to include both clinics on the MCVH campus and in hepatology outreach locations; participate in the inpatient management of patients with acute and chronic liver conditions, participate in attending on the Digestive Health Service at VCUHS ; perform diagnostic endoscopic procedures.

2. Teaching
Provide teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows in the management of patients with liver conditions, with specific expertise in the diagnosis and management of chronic liver disorders; providing training in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.

3. Research
Support departmental research efforts through clinical trial enrollment and development of clinical research efforts within specialty interests.

4. Service Administrative
Participate in divisional and institutional committees as needed; perform all administrative roles related to patient care in a timely and accurate manner.

Required Qualifications

• Board certified in Internal Medicine Hepatology.
• Current license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU .

Preferred Qualifications

• ACGME Transplant Hepatology Fellowship completion.
• ABIM Board Certification in Transplant Hepatology.
• Experience with or interest in Gastroenterology/Hepatology clinical research.
