The University of Texas Permian Basin seeks a
Chairperson for the Department of
Psychology beginning August 2020. The position is at the
rank of Associate or Full Professor. The area of specialization is
open, but a Clinical Psychologist is preferred.
UT Permian Basin is one of seven academic institutions in the
University of Texas System; there are also six health science
institutions in the UT System. The Department of Psychology
presently has 7 full-time faculty. We offer the BA online and
face-to-face. Both are robust programs. We also offer the MA in
Psychology with clinical and experimental concentrations.
The ideal candidate for the position will hold the Ph.D.
and have interest in leading a department with the goals of
teaching, research excellence,, and growth. This position requires
teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, the latter
in the candidate’s area of expertise. In addition to administrative
and teaching duties, the Chairperson will be expected to maintain
an active scholarly agenda and provide college and University

UT Permian Basin is located in the warm and sunny climate of
West Texas. The Midland/Odessa area is ideal for those who enjoy
hiking, geology, and the outdoors. Several Texas state parks are
located within 200 miles of the university.
