The Department of the Navy is creating the first-ever U.S. Naval Community College (USNCC), dedicated to providing associate’s degrees that complement the professional duties of Sailors and Marines, and also serve to help bridge their skills to the American knowledge economy after their service is complete. This is a special opportunity to lead the initial formation of the USNCC as its first Provost, responsible for establishing all academic content for a new, predominantly on-line, distance education, fully-accredited learning experience for more than 500,000 enlisted personnel in the Navy and Marine Corps.

The Provost will serve as Chief Academic Officer of the USNCC as well as a member of the President’s Cabinet, and participate in strategic planning, policy formulation, accreditation, budgetary decisions and problem solving, as well as have the opportunity to offer advice and counsel on the implications of institutional decisions on both academic programs and the student experience.  The incumbent will ensure the academic integrity of the USNCC and support innovations in programs and methods of delivery that respond to a rapidly changing academic environment.

Extensive leadership experience in delivering accredited associate’s or bachelor’s degrees using primarily on-line and distance learning methods is preferred. Competitive compensation is available for a candidate with the right knowledge, skills, and experience to help shape the future of naval education.

Please send your cover letter of interest and CV/resume to the Department of the Navy Executive Personnel Office at don_exec_personn.fct@navy.mil.  *Consideration and selection will follow a 60 day rolling recruitment.
