Full-time Faculty Position



The Department of Pathology, University of Maryland School of Medicine invites applicants for a full-time faculty position. Board certification or Board eligibility in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology is required. Additional subspecialty training and/or expertise is desired, either in Clinical Pathology or in Anatomic Pathology, particularly molecular pathology. Also, interested in bone and soft tissue pathology, head and neck pathology, breast pathology, and/or cytopathology. The successful candidate should have evidence of scholarly achievements and experience in teaching and training medical students, graduate students, residents and fellows. Experience in obtaining research funding and/or developing and translating their discoveries into novel clinical applications is encouraged. Academic appointment and salary will be commensurate with experience.

This position will also serve as the Laboratory Director, University of Maryland Medical Center's (UMMC) Midtown Campus Laboratory, Baltimore, Maryland, and support the UMMC Downtown Campus Laboratories of Pathology. Broad-based experience in laboratory management is required.

The University of Maryland Medical Center has 757 total licensed beds, 333 intensive care beds, and performs close to 20,000 surgeries per year. The Department has a strong and diverse faculty, excellent training programs, and a very supportive environment for an academic anatomic pathologist. The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is comprised of two hospitals in Baltimore: an 800-bed teaching hospital — UMMC Downtown Campus -- the flagship institution of the 14-hospital University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) - and a 200-bed teaching hospital, UMMC Midtown Campus.

Qualifications :

  • M.D. degree
  • Board certification in Clinical and Anatomic Pathology is required
  • Broad-based experience in laboratory management is also required with a minimum of 3 years' experience.
