The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) is searching for two additional Faculty members for the Institute for Educators. UMSON enrolls more than 1900 students in its baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral programs. It is ranked 8th in funding for public nursing schools from the National Institutes of Health. UMSON is part of the University of Maryland, graduate professional campus that also includes the schools of medicine, dentistry, law, pharmacy, and social work. Its interdisciplinary graduate school has more than 40 programs in the biosciences, law, and social work, and is one of the fastest growing biomedical research centers in the nation. The unique composition of the campus enables health professionals to address clinical care, public policy, and social issues through multidisciplinary research, scholarship, and community action. Its location in the Baltimore, Washington DC, and Annapolis triangle maximizes opportunities for collaboration with government agencies, health care institutions, and life science industries.

In the Fall of 2021, UMB will require all faculty, staff, and students to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Exemptions for medical or religious reasons will be processed through Human Resources.

The Institute for Educators Faculty will have academic and professional experience in nursing or a related field which prepares them to:
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate students in various learning environments
  • Prepare graduate students for careers as nurse educators
  • Role model best practices in evidence-based teaching
  • Serve as an expert resource for faculty in order to consider and address opportunities and challenges in teaching and learning
  • Collaborate in developing, designing, planning, and implementing various learning experiences ranging from individual consultation and coaching to large conferences that meet faculty development needs
  • Provide evidence of experience and innovation in applied technology in both asynchronous and synchronous online and face to face education
  • Demonstrate competency in verbal and written communication
  • Coordinate on and off-campus learning experiences related to teaching and learning (i.e.practica, service)
  • Demonstrate evidence of inter professional collaboration and activities
  • Contribute to collaborative efforts of the Institute within the School of Nursing, the UMB Campus, and across the State of Maryland
  • Design and/or revise core and elective courses within the teaching certificate program
  • Assume the full scope of a UMSON faculty role including; teaching, scholarship, and service to meet requirements for advancement with the School of Nursing and the University
Qualifications :

Qualifications -
  • Doctorate in Nursing, Education or Health Education
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching face-to-face and/or online in a baccalaureate or higher degree nursing or health professional program at an accredited academic institution
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity related to education
  • Spirit of inquiry and willingness to engage in discovery and innovation related to teaching and learning
  • Technologically competent with experience in various learning environments
  • Experience writing, managing, and/or serving on grant initiatives
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and teamwork
Certification as a Nurse Educator is highly valued
