The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) is searching for two additional Faculty members for the Institute for Educators. UMSON enrolls more than 1900 students in its baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral programs. It is ranked 8th in funding for public nursing schools from the National Institutes of Health. UMSON is part of the University of Maryland, graduate professional campus that also includes the schools of medicine, dentistry, law, pharmacy, and social work. Its interdisciplinary graduate school has more than 40 programs in the biosciences, law, and social work, and is one of the fastest growing biomedical research centers in the nation. The unique composition of the campus enables health professionals to address clinical care, public policy, and social issues through multidisciplinary research, scholarship, and community action. Its location in the Baltimore, Washington DC, and Annapolis triangle maximizes opportunities for collaboration with government agencies, health care institutions, and life science industries.

The Institute for Educators Faculty will have academic and professional experience in nursing or a related field which prepares them to:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate students in various learning environments
  • Serve as an expert resource for faculty in order to consider and address opportunities and challenges in teaching, as well as learning
  • Collaborate in designing, planning, and implementing various learning experiences ranging from individual consultation and coaching to large conferences that meet the needs for developing faculty
  • Provide evidence of experience and innovation in applied technology in classroom and online education
  • Demonstrate competency in verbal and written communication
  • Coordinate special events and learning experiences related to teaching and learning
  • Demonstrate a history of inter professional collaboration and activities
  • Contribute to collaborative efforts of the Institute within the School of Nursing, the UMB Campus, and across the State of Maryland
  • Assume the full scope of a UMSON faculty role including; education, scholarship, and service to meet requirements for advancement with the School of Nursing and the University


Qualifications :

  • Doctoral degree in Nursing or a Related Field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching face-to-face and/or online in a baccalaureate or higher degree nursing or health professional program at an accredited academic institution
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity related to education
  • Spirit of inquiry and innovation related to teaching and learning
  • Obtained extra-mural funding for projects related to teaching and learning
  • Technologically competent with experience in various learning environments
  • Certification as a Nurse Educator is highly valued
