Metropolitan State University, Minnesota’s public, urban university, and recipient of the 2019 Insight Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor of Marketing.  This is a full time, tenure-track position within the Marketing Department.

The School/Academic Department: Marketing activities play a critical role in the achievement of an organization's missions and objectives. Students in the marketing major will study the demographic, psychographic, social, economic, technological, environmental and cultural factors that influence the demands for consumer and industrial goods and services.

 

This program offers courses related to marketing principles, buyer behavior, marketing research, marketing communications, international marketing, and others.  All of the courses in this major are designed to enhance students' understanding of marketing as a multifaceted and cross-functional discipline that plays a key role in an organization's vitality.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Faculty members are expected to demonstrate ability to teach a variety of marketing courses effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate level
  • Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement
  • Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study
  • Contribute to student growth and development through advising and assistance and engage in service to the university and community
  • Outstanding candidates will demonstrate a commitment to serving a culturally diverse student body through delivering a student-centered education in a liberal arts and sciences context and will possess the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • PhD in marketing or closely related academic field from an AACSB, ACBSP, or equivalent accredited school.
  • Extensive experience teaching a variety of marketing courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Experience teaching marketing research and quantitative analysis using SPSS.
  • Experience teaching social media courses and related areas.
  • Demonstrated leadership at an academic departmental level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an institution with a culturally, economically and linguistically diverse workforce.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Professional work experience in a closely related field.
  • Experience teaching adult students.
  • Experience advising undergraduate or graduate students.
  • Experience advising traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds. 
  • Willingness to teach daytime and/or evening courses in multiple locations throughout the Twin Cities area.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn online and web-supported course delivery.
  • Evidence of scholarly work.
  • Ability to lead course and curriculum development in the position or area to which candidates are applying.
  • Evidence of outstanding service to the academic community.

Salary:  Salary is commensurate with education and experience and is determined by the salary placement process as outlined in the Inter Faculty Organization (IFO) Master Agreement.
