Assistant Professor of American Literature

The Department of Humanities at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) seeks an Assistant Professor of American Literature (a tenure-track, 9-month position) to begin Fall 2020.   Duties will include: (1) teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, (2) maintaining an active research agenda, and (3) performing university service.  A reduced course load (2/2 in the first year, 2/3 in the second year, and 3/3 for the remaining four years of the tenure-track) is provided to allow time for scholarship/research.

We desire candidates with:

• An established record of or strong potential for scholarly publication;
• Research expertise and/or teaching experience in any subfield of American Literature from the origins to the present; and
• Scholarly interests in the study of the Americas from a comparative perspective, particularly the dialogues between Latin and Anglo-American Literatures.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate must hold an earned doctorate degree in English or a closely related discipline at the time of application.  The official start date is August 16, 2020.
