Minimum Education/Training/Experience

Equivalent to graduation from high school and two – five years of general clerical or office support experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience

Associates degree preferred with experience working in post secondary education setting.

Job Duties

• Answer phones and transfer to the appropriate staff member
• Take and distribute accurate messages
• Greet public and clients and direct them to the correct staff member
• Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail
• Prepare outgoing mail for distribution
• Fax, scan and copy documents
• Maintain office filing and storage units
• Update and maintain databases such as mailing lists, contact lists and student information
• Type documents, reports and correspondence
• Co-ordinate and organize appointments
• Assist with event planning and implementation
• Monitor and maintain office supplies
• Ensure office equipment is properly maintained and serviced
• Perform work related errands
• Keep office area clean and tidy

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
