Position is full-time academic year, limited to 05-08-2021 with anticipated renewal.

The Department of History at the University of Rhode Island seeks to hire a Multicultural Faculty Fellow (MFF) in the field of Latin American history for the Academic Year 2020-21. Subject to a favorable review of teaching and scholarly activities within the first twelve months, the Fellow will transition into a full-time, funded, tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor at the end of the first year. Region, subfields, and time period are open.

We seek a scholar-teacher of the highest caliber who is committed to the University of Rhode Island’s mission as a learner-centered research university where diversity, fairness, and respect are valued. The ideal candidate would be adept at engaging and supporting students from a variety of backgrounds. We strongly encourage applications from women, racial and ethnic minorities, and other individuals who are under-represented in the historical profession, across race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other legally protected basis.

The teaching load during the year of this fellowship is 1:1. The hire will advance their research agenda and develop their teaching portfolio under the mentorship of the department and university community. The candidate must have a strong commitment to furthering diversity and to addressing its attendant social issues in the classroom and within the department, college, and university. The candidate would be expected to teach broadly in Latin American history, engage in research and contribute to department, college, and university service.
