Kalamazoo College invites applications for a tenure track position at the assistant professor level in Critical Ethnic Studies beginning fall 2020. This position provides primary support for the major in Critical Ethnic Studies approved in fall 2014. Expertise in the field of Critical Ethnic Studies as well as the ability to teach the four approved core courses of the major are required. At Kalamazoo, the Critical Ethnic Studies program works from Indigenous, national, and transnational interdisciplinary frameworks. The candidate’s expertise should include: epistemology, historiography, and de-colonial methods and pedagogies. Preference will be given to candidates with background in land-based pedagogy.  Knowledge of and commitment to Indigenous language revitalization is also desirable.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated a high aptitude for and interest in undergraduate liberal arts teaching, including occasional contributions to the College’s Shared Passages Program (first-year and sophomore seminars, and senior capstones), and a desire to involve undergraduates in scholarship both in and out of the classroom. Salary is competitive and consistent with level of experience.
