The English Department, within Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, at Chapman University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of English (cultural studies, literature, and/or rhetoric) with a specialization in Twentieth /Twenty-First Century Studies, beginning August 2020.

Chapman University's English Department offers an undergraduate major that integrates literature and rhetoric, and an MA/MFA dual degree program at the graduate level. We particularly welcome candidates whose scholarship and teaching will integrate and/or connect literature/rhetoric and creative/critical work and further the department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications

Requirements include a Ph.D. in English, Rhetoric or a related field by August 1, 2020. We are seek candidates with a specialization in Twentieth-Century/Twenty-First-Century Studies. We seek candidates whose research and teaching focuses on one or more of the following fields:

• African American/African Diasporic Studies
• Asian Anglophone/Asian-American Studies
• Indigenous/Native American Studies
• Islamic Studies
• Latinx Studies

 

Responsibilities

Tenure-track faculty members are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda for future tenure consideration and are evaluated on their research/scholarly/creative activity, teaching, and service. The faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise student theses, and maintain active research and publication agendas.
