PEDIATRIC/NEURO FACULTY MEMBER

ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
DIVISION OF PHYSICAL THERAPY
SCHOOL OF MEDICINE


The Division of Physical Therapy (PT) of West Virginia University is seeking a core faculty member with expertise in pediatrics and neurodevelopment. Responsibilities of the position will include: teaching pediatrics and neurorehabilitation in the entry level doctoral curriculum, scholarship in areas related to this content and representation of this content in curriculum planning and development. Clinical practice is also supported and encouraged. West Virginia University has a new Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute, as well as a new clinical Neurodevelopmental Center. The affiliated health system, WVU Medicine, has a Children's Hospital administrative unit, and a new Children's Hospital facility is currently under construction.

West Virginia University is a land grant Carnegie-designated Doctoral Research/Extensive institution, with approximately 32,500 students, including 27,000 undergraduate and 5,500 graduate/professional students. The WVU Health Sciences Center includes the Schools of Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, Public Health and Nursing. Patient care facilities include a 575-bed teaching hospital, a Level I trauma center, and a 70-bed psychiatric hospital. Morgantown is within easy traveling distance of Washington, DC, to the east, Pittsburgh, PA, to the north, and Cleveland and Columbus, OH, to the northwest. Morgantown has 55,000 residents and is rated as one of the best small towns in the U.S., with affordable housing, excellent schools, a picturesque countryside and many outdoor activities.

The Division of Physical Therapy at WVU was the first physical therapy professional education program in the state and has graduates dating back to 1972. The Division currently has ten core faculty and six clinical or adjunct faculty, representing expertise across the scope of physical therapy practice. There is an outpatient Faculty Practice facility located within the same building as the education program, with opportunities for faculty to engage in education and scholarship in addition to clinical practice. Opportunities for inter-professional collaboration within this comprehensive health sciences center abound, including with occupational and music therapy. West Virginia University has a Center for Excellence in Disabilities and participates in the LEND program.

Qualifications :

Applicants must meet the following criteria for consideration:
  • Graduate from an accredited PT Program,
  • Licensed (or eligible) to practice as a physical therapist in the state of WV
  • Terminal doctoral degree [PhD (Specify field), EdD (Specify field), DPH, etc] OR DPT with board certification in Pediatric Physical Therapy
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of the appointment
Salary and rank will commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The appointment date is negotiable, but the goal is to have the new faculty member in place by Summer 2022. This position may be tenure track or non-tenure track, depending on the qualifications and research expectations of the candidate.
