Job Description Summary

Faculty Part-Time, Accepting applications to establish a pool of applicants for possible future part-time openings. Salary commensurate with degree.

Seeking candidates with clinical experience including but not limited to working mental health clinics, psychiatric hospitals, homeless shelters, day treatment programs facilities, sheltered workshops.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in Human Services, or related field, psychology, sociology marriage & family counseling & pastoral counseling.
  2. Three – five years’ experience in a clinical setting in the field of Human Services:
    Clinical experience includes but is not limited to working mental health clinics, psychiatric hospitals, homeless shelters, day treatment programs facilities, sheltered workshops (people with disabilities)
  3. Licensed or licensed eligible as a social worker, marriage & family therapist, professional counseling, pastoral counseling or certified in the therapeutic recreation field.
  4. Working toward certification as a Human Service provider (HS- BCP ) through the National Board of Counselors
  5. The candidate most demonstrate a good working knowledge of the concepts of oppression, marginalization, empowerment, resilience & strength perspective. Also candidate most understand power-differential relationships (transference) especially in a college environment.
  6. Candidate must demonstrate good “networking” skills when it comes to community involvement and as a member of the Human Service faculty.


Criteria

CRITERIA :The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed. Other information and observations made during the interview process may be considered in the selection process.

  1. Extent and relevance of graduate educational preparation to coordination of human services program and teaching of human services courses.
  2. Relevance of non-teaching professional experience to coordination of a Human Services program and teaching of human services courses.
  3. Evidence of ability to effectively teach essential skills related to human services, counseling, and social work.
  4. Evidence of knowledge of and experience in employing a variety of instructional methods and techniques, including instructional technology and alternative approaches to accommodate different student learning styles.
  5. Evidence of currency in professional discipline through continuing education, professional development, and/or scholarly activity.
  6. Evidence of ability to work effectively within, and contribute positively to, a diverse, multi¬ ethnic, multi-cultural student population and campus environment


Job Requirements

  1. Degree from an accredited institution.
  2. Unofficial transcripts must accompany application for teaching positions. Official transcripts of academic work required upon an offer of employment.
  3. Documentation of experience and performance required.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  5. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
  6. Evidence of willingness to teach daytime, evening and/or weekends.
