Job Description Summary

Faculty Part-Time, Accepting applications to establish a pool of applicants for possible future openings in Design, Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Ceramics, Photography, Commercial Art, Visual Communications/Commercial Art/Graphic Design, Art History, Introduction to Art, Salary commensurate w/degree.

Minimum Qualifications

1. MFA or Master’s Degree, or equivalent* in Art or a Bachelor Degree with a major in Art with two years of college level teaching or pertinent professional experience. (*Satisfactory completion of 30 semester hours or more of relevant academic study in an accredited doctoral program may, at the discretion of the vice president, be determined to meet this requirement.)
2. Current portfolio and/or slides of works.

Criteria

CRITERIA :The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed. Other information and observations made during the interview process may be considered in the selection process.

1. Extent and relevance of graduate educational preparation to anticipated teaching assignments.
2. Extent and relevance of teaching experience to anticipated teaching assignments.
3. Extent and relevance of non-teaching professional experience to anticipated teaching assignments.
4. Evidence of quality teaching, including faculty evaluation scores, ratings, and teaching awards earned.
5. Evidence of knowledge of and experience in employing instructional methods and techniques that include interdisciplinary teaching and other approaches appropriate to different learning styles.
6. Evidence of readiness and/or willingness to use technology in the classroom.
7. Evidence of ability to teach effectively within, and contribute positively to, a diverse multi-ethic, multi-cultural student population and campus environment.

Job Requirements

1. Degree from an accredited institution.
2. Unofficial transcripts must accompany application for teaching positions. Before an applicant can be recommended for hire, he/she must have an unofficial transcript on file with the College. Official transcripts of academic work required upon an offer of employment.
3. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
4. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
