The Division of Epidemiology in the Department of Family Medicine and Population Health at Virginia Commonwealth University invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship opportunity (minimum 2-year term) in Cancer and molecular epidemiology under the supervision of Dr. Hua Zhao, Professor in the Epidemiology Program. Located in Richmond, Virginia, just two hours south of Washington, D.C., this position offers opportunities for interaction and research collaboration with faculty from public health oriented departments, clinicians, and policy makers in both state and federal agencies. VCU boasts one of the country’s most comprehensive health sciences centers, including the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, and Allied Health Professions, as well as several Institutes and Centers, including, the Institute of Women’s Health and Center on Health Disparities.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to pursue research and publications in a variety of research areas including molecular epidemiologic studies of Cancer with an emphasis on lifestyle and genetic risk factors, tumor and blood based biomarkers, as well as disparity.

Primary responsibilities include statistical data analysis, literature review, manuscript preparation, assisting with grant applications, and project management.

Required Qualifications

We are seeking highly-motivated applicants (PhD/ScD in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or related field) with outstanding training and experience in epidemiological methods and Cancer or molecular biology. Experience with handling large molecular/genetic data is recommended but not required. We encourage and support attendance at scientific conferences and participation in study leadership meetings with collaborating research groups.
