Job Description Summary

Faculty Part-Time, accepting applications to establish a pool of applicants for possible future openings.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Master’s Degree or equivalent* with a minimum of 12 graduate credits in Dance. (* Satisfactory completion of 30 semester hours or more of relevant academic study in an accredited doctoral program may, at the discretion of the Dean, be determined to meet this requirement.)
  2. Full-time or part-time teaching experience at the college level in the area of concentration or significant professional experience relevant to field and subject matter expertise as evidenced in CV or resume. Potential course topics include: Jazz Dance and Intermediate Ballet.


Criteria

The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed. Other information and observations made during the interview process may be considered in the selection process.

  1. Teach skill technique, history, choreography, rhythms, terminology, etiquette, and the artistic and educational uses of traditional African Dance.
  2. Knowledge of best practices in instructional strategies and techniques
  3. Knowledge of current trends in education
  4. Skill in choreography and performance
  5. Effective interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  6. Evidence of ability to teach effectively within, and contribute positively to, a diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural student population and campus environment.


Job Requirements

  1. Degree from an accredited institution.
  2. Documentation of experience and performance required. Unofficial transcripts must accompany application for teaching positions. Official transcripts of academic work required upon an offer of employment.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  4. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
  5. A background investigation will be conducted prior to offer of employment. A signed authorization for release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview
