Position Overview:

The successful candidate will support the Speech-Language Pathology program though duties including teaching discipline specific courses, as well as assigned duties in supervision. The Assistant Professor is responsible for independent research and service to the Program, Department, College, and University. Discipline specific instruction in courses in a variety of formats (face-to-face, hybrid, and online) and in clinical supervision requires that the individual provide a quality learning experience for students; teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. The successful candidate will adhere to the educational philosophy of the university and work in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participation in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty is expected. Faculty report to a dean or chair and performs instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. This is a full-time, tenure track position.

College/Department Overview:

The College of Education and Professional Studies currently has 100 full-time and over 100 part-time faculty organized in seven departments. The college offers 23 undergraduate majors and 28 graduate majors. All teacher education programs are CAEP accredited. Other programs are recognized at the state and national levels with accreditation's by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the American Dietetic Association (ADA), the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR), and the Oklahoma Educational Quality and Accountability Commission (OEQA). UCO's College of Education and Professional Studies has an enrollment of nearly 4,800 students, about one-fourth of whom are graduate students. Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

The faculty member will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned; area of interest or experience is open yet preference is given for experience in Interprofessional Education/Practice. The faculty member will assist the UCO Speech-Language Pathology program with duties and services related to clinical services. Other responsibilities may include responsibilities such as mentoring students in single-subject research projects and providing feedback on student self-reflection assignments. The faculty member is responsible for maintenance and compliance with activities or documentation as necessary to assist with ongoing program CAA accreditation.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

An earned Ph.D. degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). ABD will be considered. Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Must have 3+ years of progressively responsible experiences in chosen field or combination of relevant experience and education. Must hold ASHA CCC-SLP and hold or qualify to hold Oklahoma license in Speech-Language Pathology. **NOTE** If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to TT-Instructor.

Experience Preferred :

An earned PhD is preferred; ABD is considered. Current research line or potential to develop line of research is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Previous teaching experience in higher education environment is preferred. Candidate must provide evidence of teaching effectiveness/excellence. Candidate must be professionally qualified under ASHA with CCC-SLP certification, hold or be eligible for Oklahoma licensure, and have a minimum of two years of experience and the ability to maintain ongoing professional credentials. Skill in team building; coaching; mentoring; supervision; conflict resolution, delegation, problem-solving, and understanding diversity. Able to comply with the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook.

Physical Demands:

Repetitive movement of hands and fingers - typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
