DVM or equivalent.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Board certified or board eligible with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

Candidate must have a documented track record of academic productivity or have demonstrated potential to develop an independent research program in a basic or clinically-orientated research field relevant to large animal medicine.

Aptitude and/or experience in clinical instruction of DVM students, interns, and residents are also expected.

License or Certificate:

Must maintain a Wisconsin license to practice Veterinary Medicine.

Position Summary:

The Department of Medical Sciences of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track, full-time, 12-month position within the Large Animal Internal Medicine Service of the Morrie Waud Large Animal Hospital. The successful candidate will join two other large animal internists providing clinical service within the Large Animal Hospital on the UW-Madison campus. The Morrie Waud Large Animal Teaching Hospital is a collegial, collaborative environment that offers specialty care with board certified experts in Theriogenology, Large Animal Surgery, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Emergency and Critical Care.

This vacancy is being announced simultaneously with PVL 96794; please note that only one vacancy exists. Having two position vacancy listings allows the School of Veterinary Medicine to consider candidates with both tenure-track faculty credentials and non-tenure-track faculty credentials for this position.

Extensive opportunities for collaborative research exist within the School of Veterinary Medicine and the UW-Madison campus. The School of Medicine & Public Health, the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences and the Biotechnology Center are located within a short distance of the School of Veterinary Medicine on the UW-Madison campus. A close relationship also exists with the Wisconsin State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory which is located within the same footprint on-campus as the School of Veterinary Medicine. UW-Madison considers the School of Veterinary Medicine to be a major factor in its overall success as a top five university in terms of awarded federal funding.
