Position Summary:

The Wisconsin Institute for Discovery (WID) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has a rewarding opportunity for a tenure track faculty position to study 'molecules in motion' at the intersection of metabolism and human health. We seek a chemist/biochemist/chemical biologist who studies metabolites within cells or organisms in a time-resolved manner. New advances in technology and computational modeling enable understanding of small molecule movement and metabolism through complex pathways in unprecedented detail, creating the field of "fluxomics". A hire in the field of metabolic flux would provide 'glue' among research groups of diverse interests in WID, would provide a natural bridge with the Morgridge Institute, and would coalesce major interest in fluxomics on the UW campus.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is a world-class academic institution with an international reputation for basic, translational and cross-disciplinary research and is located in the heart of one of the country's most livable cities. WID's mission is to discover and inspire through interdisciplinary research conducted in a dynamic, collaborative community. WID advances frontiers of knowledge, accelerates development of solutions, and engages the State of Wisconsin through interdisciplinary research. The tenure home of the successful applicant will be from amongst a number of participating departments that include Biomolecular Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemistry. Other potential tenure home departments outside of those listed will be evaluated once a successful candidate is identified.

The School of Medicine and Public Health has a deep and profound commitment to diversity both as an end in itself but, also as a valuable means for eliminating health disparities. As such, we strongly encourage applications from candidates who foster and promote the values of diversity and inclusion.

Additional Information:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a diverse set of faculty candidates who will deepen our campus' interdisciplinary research strength in key areas of current and future research promise, as well as faculty candidates who will approach their work in a manner that advances our commitment to research excellence. We therefore seek candidates who embrace diversity in the broadest sense, and especially invite applications from minorities and women. We are an equal opportunity employer and a VEVRAA Federal Contractor. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. A criminal background check will be conducted prior to hiring.
