The Humanities Collegiate Division and the Department of Romance
Languages and Literatures
at the University of Chicago are accepting applications for a
full-time, benefits-eligible, 1-year
renewable, Lecturer position in Italian, expected to start on
September 1, 2020. Responsibilities
will include teaching 7 language courses per year, and assisting
with program administration and
coordination.
Required are a superior level of proficiency in Italian as defined
by ACTFL, proficiency in
English demonstrated by a minimum of one year of teaching and/or
studying in an Englishspeaking
country and/or a TOEFL score of at least 104 overall (and 26 in
each area), a master’s
degree or equivalent in Italian or a related field, and at least
one year of experience teaching
Italian at the college or post-secondary level. A Ph.D. or
equivalent in Italian and/or an advanced
degree in second language pedagogy/acquisition is highly
desirable.
This appointment will start on 1 September 2020. This position is
contingent upon final
budgetary approval.
