Lecturer in Spanish

We welcome applications for the position of Lecturer of Spanish at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Spanish at Purdue University is housed in the School of Languages and Cultures (SLC), in the College of Liberal Arts.

The 1.0 FTE Lecturer in Spanish will teach four classes per semester and possess native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English. Minimum level of education is a Master’s degree in Spanish language, linguistics, literature, or culture, or related field. The specific classes taught are at the discretion of the Chair of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and the Head of the School of Languages and Cultures. Possible course assignments include all levels of Spanish language courses, Spanish for heritage speakers, and upper-division courses such as Spanish phonetics and phonology, Spanish morphosyntax, history of the Spanish language, dialectology, sociolinguistics, and language variation and change. In addition, service to the School of Languages and Cultures and the Spanish and Portuguese program will be expected, such as participation in extracurricular events and program-building/program-promotion activities, as arranged with the faculty in Spanish and the Head of the School of Languages and Cultures.

The Lecturer position at Purdue University is benefits-eligible with the opportunity for eventual promotion to Senior Lecturer.
