Position Summary:

This is a position for a cardiac anesthesiologist primarily to provide clinical anesthesia care with teaching opportunities to residents and medical students.

Principal Duties:

Major teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students in the operating room, and didactic sessions. Primary emphasis of teaching will be in general and pediatric anesthesia procedures and techniques, or in area of subspecialty training. Provision of clinical anesthetic care to cardiothoracic surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call) in an anesthesia team model or personally performed anesthesia. Opportunity for participation in clinical research for interested candidates.

The successful candiate will also participate in professional, public, and university service.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

MD or DO, Anesthesiology, cardiac anesthesiology

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Completion of anesthesiology residency program, and certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Completion of subspecialty fellowship training in cardiac anesthesia.

License or Certificate:

Wisconsin medical license, board certified or board eligible in Anesthesiology

Additional Information:

This position will be a dual appointment with UW Madison and UW Medical Foundation.

For appointment at the Associate Professor (CHS), or Professor (CHS), candidate must have sufficient documented academic work to meet appointment requirements to these title levels within requested time period.
