The English and Language Studies Department at Indiana
University Kokomo invites applications for a tenure-track assistant
professor of English position beginning January 2, 2020. Candidates
must have a Ph.D. in English, or closely related discipline, with a
specialization in American literature, in hand by start January
2nd. Candidates specializing in any area of American literature are
encouraged to apply. An appropriate level of university,
professional, and community service is required, such as committee
work, assessment of the major, and engagement in campus initiatives
to increase retention and enrollment.
The course load will be three sections per semester. In
addition, the preference will be given to candidates who can assume
the role of Editor-in-Chief of our student publication journal
Field. One course release per semester is granted to take
on this role. The preference for teaching for this position is
American literature survey, specialized American literature
courses, and other classes as needed, but related areas will be
considered. Publication is required for promotion and tenure, and
for maintaining a 3/3 load after tenure.
