Job Description Summary

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, full-time, tenure-track. Rank and salary commensurate with experience.

Primary responsibilities: Design and implement a new, innovative BM degree concentration in composition and music technology; recruit, retain, and teach applied composition in both classical and commercial genres as well as music technology courses to music majors and non-majors; pursue and cultivate multi-disciplinary partnerships with other departments and colleges within the university.

Additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Maintain an active research and/or creative activity profile in music composition and music production; supervise and facilitate student composition projects and recitals; teach courses in allied subjects as needed; provide service to the campus, community, and profession.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral degree in music composition or master’s degree by the start date with extensive appropriate professional experience including performances of their works by major professional performing ensembles, releases through major recording labels, and/or syndicated broadcasts.

Successful record of academic program development in composition and music technology.

Demonstrated mastery of professional music studio technology for instruction.

Desired Qualifications

Successful record of composition, production, and private instruction that demonstrates a broad understanding and commitment to genre plurality and cultural diversity ranging from traditional, symphonic and classical, to intuitive and nontraditional music.
