Position Summary:
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (UWSMPH) is thrilled to be recruiting for a full-time pediatric sleep medicine physician who is board certified in pediatric pulmonology at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor on the CHS (Clinical Health Science) track. Candidates must have a desire to incorporate teaching to a variety of learners in clinical practice and a strong interest in scholarly activity.
The American Family Children’s Hospital (AFCH), recently ranked as one of the 50 Best Children’s Hospitals by U.S. News and World Report (our Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine program was ranked 29th), boasts 111 beds and receives tertiary referrals from throughout the state. AFCH is the only facility in Madison exclusively devoted to the care and treatment of children.
The Department of Pediatrics has 175 faculty and offers a full range of pediatric subspecialty care. The division of Pediatric Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine has a current complement of six faculty and a multidisciplinary clinical team of nurses, respiratory therapists, dieticians, physical and occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, social workers, behavioral psychologists, and research coordinators. We have a robust outpatient pediatric sleep program and sleep laboratory to perform polysomnography and treat children with a variety of sleep-related problems. The division also has active clinical and research programs in a number of other areas including cystic fibrosis, neuromuscular respiratory disease, aero digestive issues, and pulmonary hypertension.

Principal Duties:
- Provide clinical care to pediatric sleep patients, as well as participate in the coverage for and interpretation of sleep studies.
- Teach to a variety of learners, including, but not limited to medical students, residents and fellows. Teaching can occur within the classroom, small groups and lectures as well as in the delivery of clinical care.
- Carry out independent research/scholarly activity in an area of interest to the candidate and division. These pursuits can take many forms and will likely be executed in conjunction with clinical activities, but are not limited to that venue.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
Completion of pediatric residency and fellowship programs required. Interest in academic medicine, involving teaching to a variety of learners essential. Experience in an academic teaching setting preferred.
Candidates for associate professor or full professor (CHS) rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the CHS track.
License or Certificate:
