The Department of Surgery is recruiting an exceptional
team-oriented surgeon to join our dynamic Division of
Cardiothoracic Surgery. We are seeking an organ procurement
specialist to primarily support our growing heart and lung
transplant programs as well as other critical UW Health clinical
programs including ECMO, TAVR and laser-lead extraction.

Clinical responsibilities comprise 85-90% of this role and will
include heart and lung procurement, TAVR co-surgery,
electrophysiology/cath lab back-up for laser-lead extraction and
ECMO cannulation and management. The ideal candidate will have
experience in each of these areas of responsibility. In addition,
the successful candidate will assist with handling communication
regarding the logistics of organ offers. The individual can be
involved with ex-vivo lung and heart perfusion efforts to expand
the available donor pool and/or resuscitate marginal organs and may
serve as a first assistant on the implantation of mechanical assist
devices, heart and lung transplants and other complex
Clinical research activities relating to mechanical circulatory
support and transplantation will comprise 5-10% effort and the
remaining 5-10% effort will be devoted to teaching medical
students, residents, and fellows.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
MD, DO, or equivalent is required.
Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
Sufficient experience to satisfy UNOS criteria to independently
perform both heart and lung procurements is required. Experience
with cannulation and management of patients requiring ECMO is
The successful candidate must be eligible for an unrestricted
Wisconsin Medical License and must possess clinical and academic
credentials sufficient for appointment at the Assistant Professor,
Associate Professor, or Professor rank. Appointment as associate
professor or full professor will require that candidate's
credentials meet criteria for rank established by UW School of
Medicine and Public Health Guidelines.
License or Certificate:
Completion of a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery is Required.
Certification or eligibility for certification by the American
Board of Thoracic Surgery is Preferred.

committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW
Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential

with other faculty members.
