Assistant Professor in Korean Studies

Description: The Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for a tenure track (assistant level) faculty position in Korean Studies. The position will begin in Fall 2020; Ph.D. or equivalent degree required at the time of hire. The appointment will be based at the Keough School of Global Affairs, with a possible concurrent appointment in a disciplinary department.

The Keough School ( promotes interdisciplinary research on critical issues in global affairs, offers a professional master's degree and an undergraduate supplementary major, and supports doctoral programs. The successful applicant will work closely with the Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies, one of the constituent institutes of the Keough School, in furthering the integration of Asia-related expertise into the activities of the School, and promoting Asia-focused pathways within the curriculum of the Keough School.

Applicants for this position are expected to have a clear regional specialization pertaining to Korea (North, South, or both) as well as the ability to use Korean-language material in both teaching and research. Interaction with Notre Dame's thriving Korean Language program, housed in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, will also be expected.

Applicants should have a disciplinary specialization in the social sciences, with preference for anthropology, international relations, peace studies, political science, or sociology.
