Mission or Goal of Unit

DELIVER HIGH QUALITY CLINICAL BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE . PROVIDE EDUCATION TO TRAINEES, CONDUCT RESEARCH .

Chief purpose of this position in support of above mission or goal

PROVIDE CLINICAL HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY SERVICES TO PATIENTS AT VCUHS AND AFFILIATED COMMUNITY PARTNERS
PROVIDE CLINICAL AND DIDACTIC EDUCATION TO GRADUATE AND POSTDOCTORAL PSYCHOLOGY TRAINEES AND OTHER TRAINEES . THIS SENIOR HEALTH PSYCHOLOGIST WILL ALSO CONDUCT FUNDED RESEARCH AND SERVE AS A HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY LEADER IN THE HEALTH SYSTEM

Position Responsibilities

1. Teaching – 5% teaching and training health psychology and other trainees

2. Research –30% Funded research and scholarship related to health psychology and behavioral health care for persons with physical illness, disability, or coping with hospitalization and significant medical procedures

3. Service – 5% Serve on the Department of Psychiatry Advisory Council and other university and Health System committees

4. Clinical – 40% clinical work including promotion of integrated and collaborative care

5. Other (for instance administrative duties, etc.) 20%- Provide leadership in the Health System’s provision of behavioral health care to persons with physical illness and in prevention of illness.

Required Qualifications

BOARD CERTIFIED HEALTH PSYCHOLOGIST OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE

• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU .
• At least 5-10 years’ experience in health psychology clinical practice preferred.
• Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating success in funded health psychology research.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in public, community and/or academic setting.
