The Department of Scandinavian at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a full-time position at the Assistant (tenure-track), Associate or Full Professor level, in the area of Danish Literature and Culture. The expected start date is July 1, 2020.

The Department seeks a specialist in Danish literature and culture who can contribute to a comparative Nordic model of scholarship. In addition, the department prefers expertise in at least one of the following fields: Arctic Studies, Cultural History, Digital Humanities, Folklore, Gender Studies, and/or Post-Colonial Studies.

  • Required minimum qualification at the time of application: PhD (or equivalent international degree), or enrolled in a PhD or equivalent international degree-granting program at the time of application.
  • Preferred qualifications: Native or near-native competence in Danish and in English. Completion of the Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree) preferred by the start date of the position. Strong ability for successful research, teaching, and administrative service.
