Part-time Instructor, Industrial Safety Trainer



Position Summary
Mid-State Technical College is currently hiring for an experienced industrial safety trainer.

This position will be hired for an ongoing project, however exact dates and times will be determined by customer availability.

Duties & Responsibilities

Plan, implement, and coordinate safety training programs for area employers to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions. This position requires the application of engineering principles and technology.

Develop, conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment. Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.

Inspect and evaluate workplace environment, equipment, and practices in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and governmental regulations.

Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes.

Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, and/or materials.

Review plans and specifications for construction of new machinery or equipment to determine whether all safety requirements have been met.

Interview employers and employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace incidents.

Review employee safety programs to determine their adequacy.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
Possess a thorough knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws in Environmental, Health & Safety in order to provide a rigorous scientific methodology to assess possible environmental and workplace hazards that may exist within a space or organization.

Knowledge of OSHA guidelines, crane and hoist safety, forklift safety, and electrical safety.

Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

Skilled in training plan development based on client’s objectives.

Minimum of three years of work-related experience in industrial safety required.

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene or Occupational Health preferred.

Compensation & Benefits
Compensation is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
