Pediatric Hospitalist

West Virginia University Department of Pediatrics and WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital seeks a Pediatric Hospitalist qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. This position is primarily clinically based at Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, WV.

The successful candidate will join a group of two other pediatric hospitalists, backed by local private practice and academic hospitalist pediatricians. Clinical responsibilities will include daily rounding in a Level 1 nursery and wards, attendance at difficult deliveries and cesarean sections, and occasional consults to the emergency department. The coverage schedule is currently divided into 2-3 day shifts, but is flexible to the needs of the group. Call is from home at night. The clinical duties are assisted by a nurse practitioner on weekdays.

Qualifications: Applicants must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited pediatrics residency, and be board certified / eligible in pediatrics. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals are required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Camden Clark completed a 60 million dollar expansion and their Pediatrics Department is centered on the philosophy of Family Centered Care, designed to promote the family involvement thought critical to the child’s recovery. Their Special Delivery Unit is designed with the single-room LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum) concept in mind, meaning one spacious, private birthing suite for the entire hospital stay.
