Asian Studies
Assistant Professor of Japanese, Department of Asian Studies
The Department of Asian Studies at Williams College invites applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Japanese, beginning in the fall of 2020. We seek someone who can teach all levels of Japanese language and contribute at least one course per academic year in the candidate’s disciplinary specialization, which can include literature, cultural studies, linguistics, or any related field. We welcome innovative scholars whose teaching and research can creatively contribute to our Japanese major and to our interdisciplinary Asian Studies major.
Candidates should have a Ph.D., or all requirements for the Ph.D. degree, completed by September 2020.
Review of applications will begin on October 7th, 2019. To apply, send letter of application, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, and a link to a sample video clip of language teaching in Japanese. Your cover letter should include a statement concerning your ability to work effectively with a student population that is broadly diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion.
