Applications are invited for appointments as Research Officer (RO)/ Assistant Research Officer (ARO) in the Journalism and Media Studies Centre (2 posts) (Ref.: 499964), to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis or one-year temporary basis.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in social sciences, psychology, education, statistics, public health, paediatrics or related fields, with at least 3 years’ relevant experience in research project management and development. They should have a strong academic background, research and management skills. They should also have excellent command of written English, and be capable of working under pressure. Experience in large-scale research projects, grant proposal writing and data analysis would be highly preferred. Those with less work experience may be appointed as ARO. The appointees will work closely with academics and research partners from healthcare, social welfare, education and private sectors and coordinate multiple research projects in collaboration with different departments, supervise research colleagues and assist in journal publications.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment on fixed-term basis will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. For fixed-term RO, housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
