The Office of the Provost at Auburn University at Montgomery invites applications for non-tenure track full-time lecturer positions starting August 2021. This is a one-year (twelve-month), renewable appointment. Responsibilities will include teaching the University Student Success Course ( UNIV 1000, 1004, or 1007 as needed), being accessible to students, providing support for University retention initiatives and working with other members of the Office of the Provost, the Experiential Education & Engagement Center, and the University Honors Program in supporting learning communities and experiential learning initiatives. Because of the responsibilities related to student success, the lecturer will be expected to be on campus during work hours.

The teaching load is four courses in Fall semesters and typically fewer in Spring and Summer. More work with student success initiatives, experiential education, or the University Honors Program is expected during Spring and Summer semesters. Duties in Spring may include developing service learning projects, creating UNIV course resources, planning and participating in AUM events, offering workshops, supporting the Honors Program, or assessing retention and engagement activities.

Successful candidates must have earned at least a Master’s degree and teaching experience. Preferred candidates will have experience teaching college students topics and skills that will help them successfully transition into college, both academically and personally. Preferred candidates also have experience with student success initiatives or experience with learning communities.

Department Information: The UNIV Student Success Program comprises four lecturers and a program manager who support the first-year seminar and other student success initiatives including service learning, mentoring, the Bridge Program, and outreach to at-risk and first-gen students.
